Rules & Regulations
Registration & Eligibility
a. Each participating team is required to register by 17 February 2017 (Friday).
b. To register, the team must complete the Registration form and submit scanned copies of their NRIC and Student Pass of all participants (front and back).
c. Each team must comprise three to six participants between the ages of 17 and 25 years of age (as at 31 December 2017) from the same institution.
d. The competition is open to students from Junior Colleges, Institute of Technical Education, Polytechnics, Universities and International Schools in Singapore.
Phase 1: Compulsory Competition Brieﬁng and CSR Workshop
a. We highly encourage all members to attend the compulsory Competition Briefing on 1 March 2017. In the event that some members are unable to attend the briefing, at least 2 members have to be present.
b. At the Competition Brieﬁng, participants will have the opportunity to briefly ask the representatives of the 10 participating organisations questions about the organisation and their preferred Sustainability focus for the competition.
Phase 2: Pre-selection
a. Each participating team is required to submit the Preliminary Proposal by 5 May 2017 (Friday), 5pm to email@example.com
b. Late submissions will not be accepted.
c. The Proposal must not exceed 10 pages excluding the cover page. The proposal must be in the following format:
I. Typewritten in Arial 11 pt font, double line spacing with 1 inch margins from all sides on A4 size.
II. One cover page containing the team name and participant’s names and school/ institution only – this information must not be included elsewhere in the Concept Paper.
III Executive Summary not exceeding 1 page.
IV. Annexes are a part of the 10 pages.
d. The proposal MUST include:
I. Explanation of goals and performance targets of overall sustainability strategy with speciﬁc focus on the identiﬁed core Sustainability aspect(s).
II. Proposed implementation of Sustainability strategy.
III. Proposed assessment and measurement of impact.
IV. Estimated feasibility and applicability of the strategy.
e. In the Pre-selection phase, all submissions will be reviewed and 10 shortlisted teams (one ﬁnalist team per company) for ﬁnal Phase 3. Non-qualifying teams will be notiﬁed by email.
Phase 3: Final Judging
a. Finalists will be expected to fulﬁl a practical attachment (of no more than 3 working days) with the company onsite to further review and reﬁne the proposal under the mentorship of an independent CSR consultant. The tentative period for the attachment will be between 1 – 30 June 2017, subject to the schedules of the selected company and Sustainability consultant. Failure to attend the practical attachment might result in a disqualiﬁcation.
b. Each ﬁnalist team is required to submit (by hand) the Final Proposal and Presentation by 14 July 2017 (Friday), 5pm to the Global Compact Network Singapore office.
c. The ﬁnal submission must contain ﬁve/ six original hard copies of the proposal and presentation deck as well as one CD containing soft-copy of the Final Proposal (in the same format specified in point 4.2) and Microsoft Powerpoint Presentation slides named ‘Team Name_Company Name’. Annexes are allowed.
d. Late submissions will not be accepted.
e. All ﬁnalist teams are required make a 15-minutes presentation followed by a 5 minutes question & answer session to a panel of judges at the ﬁnal judging on either 27 or 28 July 2017 (final date to be advised).
a. All proposals and presentations submitted in the course of this competition must be recent and original, and must not have been previously entered in any national, regional or international competitions, or subject to any form of copyright protection in any country, whether in part or in whole. Copyright ownership of all proposals will remain with the participants and/or the institution.
b. A pre-judging panel comprising a representative each from the organisers, City Developments Limited and Global Compact Network Singapore, as well as the respective company assigned to the team will shortlist the 10 Preliminary Proposals for Final Judging.
c. Final Submissions will be judged by a panel of Sustainability and industry experts. Individual scores will not be disclosed to the ﬁnal teams.
d. The judges’ decision is ﬁnal. No correspondence will be entered into on this subject before, during and after the Competition.
a. All participants must consent to the public disclosure of his/her name and photographs, as the case may be, for publicity purposes or otherwise participate in the publicity activities of the Organisers’ in relation to the Competition and to the use of any information provided for any future publicity effort by the Organisers, without any payment or compensation thereof.
b. Participants shall bear all costs associated with the participation of the Competition, the claiming and collection of the prizes from the Organisers.
c. Notwithstanding anything in these Rules and Regulations, the Organisers’ reserves the right at any time in its absolute discretion to determine and/ or amend, by addition to, subtraction from or variation of, these Rules and Regulations without prior notification, including but not limited to the eligibility terms and criteria, and all participants to this Competition shall be bound by these amendments.
d. Should disputes occur between team members during the competition, the organisers will not be involved in resolving the dispute. In the situation of a team dispute, the organisers will only liaise directly with the team leader.
e. Submission for the Competition signifies the acceptance of the rules and regulations of the CDL-GCNS Young CSR Leaders Award 2017.
f. The organisers reserves the absolute right to amend the rules & regulations at their discretion.
